I always have a thing for planners and stationery ever since I was very young. And every year, in the spirit of starting anew, I always get a planner. This year I looked all over for the perfect planner and found this hidden gem on Amazon – it’s reasonably price and good quality.
I’ve always loved the last week of the year. That week between Christmas and New Year’s. It’s always the most relaxing week for me, nothing ever planned, I don’t even know what day it is. When I was at school it was the holidays. Then I got into teaching and the last week was always off as well. This is the time of reflecting upon the passing year and planning for the coming year. This is also usually the time when I get the urge to deep clean and reorganise.
Now that I have a child of my own, as much as I love planning for things to do with Nina, this is pretty much the time where I just mostly let her organically do what she wants.
I believe this unstructured moment is doing her good. When I was reorganising her folders today, she sat beside me to look through them and asked to redo some of the activities. She is very good in deciding what to play or craft, solving her own puzzles, choosing books to look at. I observe all this quietly without disturbing her and quite frankly I’m very proud of her. I’m glad that I’ve shown her so many different activities that she now has many options to keep herself busy.
